Highlights
Nearly 1.2 million refugees live in highly congested camps in Cox’s Bazar, with over 140,000 new arrivals since late 2024 further straining services.
Armed violence remains a major protection concern for Rohingya children in 2025, with widespread violations including recruitment, abduction, killing and maiming, sexual violence, and attacks on education facilities.
Floods, urban fires, cold waves and public health emergencies continue to impact the most vulnerable in Bangladesh.
Despite funding constraints, UNICEF reached over 597,000 people with multisectoral life-saving support, including 331,000 children, 47 per cent of the revised HAC target.
Global donor shifts in 2025 required difficult prioritization of core life-saving services. With the revised appeal only 72 per cent funded, a funding gap of US$ 40 million threatens the continuity of essential services for Rohingya children.
Situation in Numbers
3.3 million children in need of humanitarian assistance (UNICEF Revised HAC 2025)
8.1 million people in need (UNICEF Revised HAC 2025)
603,734 Rohingya children require assistance (UNHCR, 31 December 2025)
1,177,962 total Rohingya population require assistance (UNHCR, 31 December 2025)
Funding Overview and Partnerships
Humanitarian needs in Bangladesh remained acute throughout 2025 as pressure on global aid resources intensified. Rohingya refugees and climate-affected communities continued to face compounding risks, while declining international assistance threatened the continuity of essential services across health, nutrition, education, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and child protection. In response, UNICEF, together with humanitarian partners, prioritized available resources to safeguard critical life-saving interventions for women and children, while continuing and initiating cost-saving measures to maximize efficiency and sustain core services.
